My new favourite tea

I recieved this tea in one of my random book boxes (Caffeine and Legends) and instantly fell in love with it. I hunted around online to find the company so I could stock up on more. I was horrified to realize they didn't ship to Canada. 😅😭 But now they do! Thank you!!

Yeah... I ordered 3 bags LOL. It's so good, like someone threw a bar of dark chocolate in a wood smoker. I like it with just a splash of milk, but if you make it with hot milk instead of water and a smidgen of date syrup (or brown sugar), you get a more substantial cozy drink for the cold weather.

Subtly reminiscent of coffee w/ much weaker body. Artificial food dyes raise quality concerns.

I was hoping this might be a more spiced / nuanced version of a Roastaroma, something that could replace the feeling of drinking coffee in the morning. While it does have subtle roasted cocoa notes, the body is very thin, and even when using two rounded tsp per 8 oz cup steeped at 200F for 5 minutes, it still doesn't deliver a particularly pronounced flavor profile. Adding a splash of cream helped to lift some of the roobios and cocoa flavors, which was nice, though I could taste through the cream that the flavor profile still felt thin - like someone got distracted halfway through filling the coffee filter and brewed a pot at half strength. I understand that it's tea, but even for tea, the flavor profile is a little too subtle for my taste.

Secondly, I would never have expected this for a company with such artisanal branding, but this tea contains artificial food dyes. I just found that to be absolutely absurd. Why on Earth is it even remotely necessary? If you're really driven to achieve a particular color, why not go for a plant-based dying method?

The owner's decision to use artificial food dyes here, combined with the relatively unimpressive flavor profile of the tea, really makes me question how much they care about the quality of their ingredients and their product.

Hi Pierce, we’re sorry that our Wizard’s Tower wasn’t what you were expecting. While the tea does have coffee in it, and works as a nice transition for others, we don’t intend for it to be a full replacement for a strong coffee brew. The coffee is really meant to help express the chocolate flavors (like espresso for a brownie).

We’d also like to address your concern regarding the artificial colors. This is an ingredient that is included in the butterscotch that we source and crush ourselves. We chose this specific butterscotch because it was a dairy-free option for our customers. We try to be transparent about our ingredients, but I know it doesn’t breakdown the individual ingredients on the website. This is something that we plan to update, so that customers can make a more informed decision about their purchases. That being said, we do not believe that including ingredients that contain artificial colors makes our teas any less artisanal. We design, blend, and package all of our teas ourselves, and we are proud of the artistry involved in that. Some of the artificial colors, like those contained in the edible shimmers that we add to other blends, help create a more fantastical, immersive experience which captures our intent behind our brand.

Thank you for trying our tea, and, again, we’re sorry it wasn’t what you were looking for.

A tasty follow-up to my morning coffee

I'm a coffee drinker, but after I've downed my alotted 16 ounces I have to stop (for both caloric and caffeination reasons). This tea satisfies my urge to chug a solid gallon of full-fat yes-whip hazlenut-praline-mocha without being cloying or over-powered. It staved off the post-coffee enuei and my coworkers like it too!

Wonderful Tea

Loved the flavor, I prefer to brew 2 tsp per 1 cup.

I was so pleasantly surprised at how amazing this tea is! I'm typically a coffee drinker and have always been underwhelmed with tea. But this tea is so flavorful. Doesn't need anything added! In fact just the scent alone is worth it! Highly recommend.
